At a time when tariffs and global economic uncertainty are threatening Canadian jobs, Ontario is leading the country in breaking down internal trade barriers and building a stronger, more self-reliant Canadian economy.
Ontario is the first and only province to eliminate all of its party-specific exceptions under the Canadian Free Trade Agreement, helping businesses sell more Canadian-made products across the country.
We’ve also passed the Protect Ontario through Free Trade within Canada Act and advanced mutual recognition so that goods and services approved elsewhere in Canada can be recognized here in Ontario.
And we’re making it easier for skilled workers to follow opportunity. New “As of Right” rules will allow certified professionals from other provinces and territories to begin working in Ontario within just 10 business days once their credentials and requirements are confirmed.
Ontario has also signed onto a landmark Canada-wide agreement to expand direct-to-consumer alcohol sales, giving consumers more choice and opening new markets for Ontario producers.
For workers and families, breaking down these barriers means more opportunities, more competition and a stronger economy that can create and protect good-paying jobs here at home.
